At Beyond the Mirror we focus on the whole person. Our program focuses on mind, body, spirit & emotions. We can support you in increasing healthy coping strategies and learning healthy self-talk. Counseling, whether in individual or group sessions, can help teach you how to exchange unhealthy behaviors for healthy ones and reduce unhealthy eating patterns. Our counseling program encompasses a variety of techniques. Some of these techniques include:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) CBT may help you cope better with issues that trigger unhealthy eating behaviors, such as negative feelings about your body or a depressed mood. It may also give you a better awareness of your behavior and eating patterns.
  • Interpersonal psychotherapy  Interpersonal psychotherapy focuses on your current relationships with other people. The goal is to improve your interpersonal and communication skills — how you relate to others, including family, friends and colleagues. This technique may help reduce unwanted eating patterns that's triggered by unhealthy relationships.
  • Dialectical behavior therapy This form of therapy can help you learn behavioral skills to help you create mindfulness, tolerate stress, regulate your emotions and improve your communication with others, all of which can reduce the desire to use food in unhealthy ways.
