Trust the Process

To "trust the process" means to have faith in the journey and to allow things to unfold naturally, without trying to force or control them.


This can often be easier said than done :-)


It is wayyyyyy easier to trust the process when things are going well, and we feel in control of our lives. It can be harder to trust the process when we feel uncertain, overwhelmed, afraid, or discouraged.


Trusting the process requires a certain level of surrender and letting go. This involves resting into the discomfort and being open to new possibilities and opportunities.


Practice:

Breeeeeeaaaaathe

Close your eyes and just begin to observe your breath. Allow it to be. Just notice your pace of breathing. Notice how your abdomen rises as your breathe in. Notice how it falls as you exhale.


Visualize yourself on a mountain trail. The trail is winding and disappearing in the distance. You notice that you can't see what's around the next turn. Take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the trail. Notice the sights and smells around you. Become aware of the colors. Become aware of the breeze. Become aware of the beauty.


As you inhale, imagine yourself breathing in trust and faith. As you exhale, breathe out fear and doubt.


Feel your feet rooted in the earth, your body strong and grounded.


Say to yourself, "I am strong and grounded. I am rooted in my body and connected to the earth beneath me. I am calm, peaceful, and at ease, even in the midst of uncertainty."


When you feel ready, take a few deep breaths and slowly open your eyes.
