The Reflection: Between the Rush and the Rest

Sometimes spring does not feel light and open. Sometimes it feels like holding too many things at once. The end of the school year, changing schedules, responsibilities, transitions, unfinished projects, family needs, and the pressure to keep moving can leave us feeling stretched thin. At the very same time, there may also be a quiet part inside of us longing for something new. A new rhythm. A new beginning. A new version of ourselves that feels more grounded, connected, rested, or alive.

And that can feel confusing.

Part of us wants to move forward quickly. To make the change. To clean everything up. To become more productive, more organized, more intentional. Another part of us wants to slow down and breathe. To sit still long enough to actually hear ourselves again. Sometimes we are not even moving toward something new yet. Sometimes we are simply trying to keep up with what life is currently asking of us.

There is wisdom in noticing both.

We often tell ourselves that stress means we are failing or falling behind, but sometimes stress simply means life is full. Sometimes the very things exhausting us are also evidence of love, growth, responsibility, connection, and care. The overflowing calendar may represent children we deeply love. The hard conversations may represent relationships worth tending to. The exhaustion may come from building something meaningful. Gratitude does not mean pretending things are easy. It means allowing ourselves to notice the gifts that exist alongside the heaviness.

At the same time, it is important to honor the part of ourselves that wants something different or something more. Wanting more peace does not make you ungrateful. Wanting rest does not make you lazy. Wanting a deeper connection with yourself, your relationships, your purpose, or your community does not mean your current life is not enough. It simply means you are human and growing.

Sometimes healing begins not by forcing ourselves forward, but by becoming more honest about what season we are actually in.

Maybe this season is not about doing more. Maybe it is about noticing more.

Noticing what drains you.

Noticing what restores you.

Noticing what keeps asking for your attention.

Noticing what helps you feel most like yourself.

As you move through this season, here are a few gentle questions to reflect on:

• What do I want to grow more of in my life right now?

• What am I carrying that feels heavy?

• What support do I need that I have not fully allowed myself to receive?

• What parts of my life feel nourishing and alive?

• Where am I rushing myself instead of allowing space for the process?

• What would it look like to move with more patience and compassion toward myself?

Spring reminds us that growth rarely happens all at once. Things bloom in their own timing. Some things are just beginning to take root beneath the surface long before they are visible to anyone else.

Maybe your job right now is not to have everything figured out.

Maybe your job right now is simply to keep tending to yourself while you grow.
